Camp Director

Jeff Rose joined the Camp George family in the fall of 2007. Jeff came to us from Camp Sabra in St. Louis, MO. Before that Jeff spent many years in Montreal, Quebec, where he was the full time Associate Director of the Harry Bronfman Y Country Camp. He has an education degree from the University of Toronto where he taught grade two prior to moving into camping full time. Jeff’s passion for camp shines through and he promises to make Camp George a safe and fun environment where campers and staff will laugh, learn and grow together and create memories that will last a lifetime. Jeff, along with his wife Kerryn and daughters Chloe and Avery celebrate every moment they spend on Maple Lake.

Associate Director

Lauren joined the Camp George family in 2019. Lauren grew up in the Reform movement in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so feels naturally connected to the power of Reform Jewish Camp.  Lauren is not new to the Ontario Jewish camping community.  She spent 7 years as the Assistant Director of The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp and is passionate about Jewish camp and the impact it has on our youth.  She has a degree in Jewish Studies from Indiana University.  Lauren and her husband, Yoni, also a huge supporter of Jewish camping, live in Toronto with their two children, Joshua and Nessa.  Lauren loves working towards building the bright future of Camp George!

MATTHEW JADD (he/him)

Assistant Director

Matthew comes to Camp George with a wealth of experience and a passion for Jewish camping. Camp has been an integral part of Matthew’s life, having spent eleven summers at Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa, including as counselor, swim staff, and head of Judaic programming. Matthew has worked for the past 3 years as the Assistant Director of Camp Gesher. He has also worked as the Site Coordinator for Nike Sports Camps Canada and Director of Youth Engagement for Congregation Har Shalom in Maryland.

Matthew graduated from the Hornstein Program at Brandeis University in 2020 with an MBA in Nonprofit Management, and MA in Jewish Professional Leadership. He is excited to bring his skills, experiences, and passions to Camp George!

Marly Bromstein (she/hers)

Development and Community Engagement Associate

Marly has been a part of the URJ Camp George family since she was a Lehavot camper.  Marly has worked her way up as a Counselor, Kulam volunteer, and, most recently, Community Care Assistant. She is originally from Dundas, Ontario, and recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in design. She now lives in Toronto and is thrilled to be a full-time member of our year-round staff team. She is looking forward to spending more summers at George supporting our community and swimming back in Maple Lake!

Business Manager

Jenny Cargill, our Business Manager, joined Camp George in the summer of 2022 and she brings a variety of financial and administrative experience to Camp George; prior to her joining the team, Jenny worked in finance for a global mining and equipment company for eight years and worked on several international mining projects in Bangladesh, Panama, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Zambia, and Indonesia.

Jenny has a passion for building community, achieving self-sufficiency and the preservation of the environment. Jenny speaks five languages and has a great love for nature and animals. While she’s not practicing the art of financial management, you can usually find her outdoors, gardening, painting, reading a book or feeding the local wildlife! Jenny lives in beautiful Muskoka, year-round with her husband Chris and her cat Cheddar.

Maintenance Director

Doug Crisp, our year-round Maintenance Director, joined the Camp George team recently in June 2022! Doug oversees all maintenance, whether it’s fixing things around camp or working on large projects to keep our facility running as smoothly as possible. His diverse skill set and approachable personality make him a valuable member of our community. Doug ensures that Camp is well maintained and looks great all year, whether it is opening for the season in the spring or closing for the winter!
