Camp Director

Jeff Rose joined the Camp George family in the fall of 2007. Jeff came to us from Camp Sabra in St. Louis, MO. Before that Jeff spent many years in Montreal, Quebec, where he was the full time Associate Director of the Harry Bronfman Y Country Camp. He has an education degree from the University of Toronto where he taught grade two prior to moving into camping full time. Jeff’s passion for camp shines through and he promises to make Camp George a safe and fun environment where campers and staff will laugh, learn and grow together and create memories that will last a lifetime. Jeff, along with his wife Kerryn and daughters Chloe and Avery celebrate every moment they spend on Maple Lake.

Associate Director

Lauren joined the Camp George family in 2019. Lauren grew up in the Reform movement in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so feels naturally connected to the power of Reform Jewish Camp.  Lauren is not new to the Ontario Jewish camping community.  She spent 7 years as the Assistant Director of The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp and is passionate about Jewish camp and the impact it has on our youth.  She has a degree in Jewish Studies from Indiana University.  Lauren and her husband, Yoni, also a huge supporter of Jewish camping, live in Toronto with their two children, Joshua and Nessa.  Lauren loves working towards building the bright future of Camp George!

Assistant Director

Throughout his time at camp, Josh has exhibited remarkable growth and leadership within the camp community, transitioning seamlessly from a camper to a staff member, and program assistant and now stepping into the role of Assistant Director. Having called Camp George home for 15 summers, Josh cherishes the countless friendships and memories forged over the years. Now, as Assistant Director, Josh is committed to giving back to the community that has shaped him and creating everlasting memories for both campers and staff. Josh brings his enthusiasm, dedication, and love for Camp George to enhance the experience for everyone in our vibrant camp community.

Assistant Director, Community Care & Engagement

Marly, our dedicated Assistant Director, Community Care & Engagement, brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to URJ Camp George. Having begun her camp journey as a Lehavot camper, Marly has evolved through roles such as Counselor, Kulam volunteer, and most recently, Community Care Assistant. Originally from Dundas, Ontario, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Design from Toronto Metropolitan University and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Counseling in Counselling Psychology. Now a full-time member of our year-round staff team in Toronto, Marly plays a crucial role in the camp’s development, marketing, and fundraising efforts. During the summer months, she seamlessly transitions into the role of Community Care Coordinator, focusing on the well-being of our campers and staff. Marly’s unwavering dedication reflects her genuine commitment to supporting the Camp George community, and she looks forward to spending more summers contributing to the magic of Maple Lake.

Business Manager

Jenny Cargill, our Business Manager, joined Camp George in the summer of 2022 and she brings a variety of financial and administrative experience to Camp George; prior to her joining the team, Jenny worked in finance for a global mining and equipment company for eight years and worked on several international mining projects in Bangladesh, Panama, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Zambia, and Indonesia.

Jenny has a passion for building community, achieving self-sufficiency and the preservation of the environment. Jenny speaks five languages and has a great love for nature and animals. While she’s not practicing the art of financial management, you can usually find her outdoors, gardening, painting, reading a book or feeding the local wildlife! Jenny lives in beautiful Muskoka, year-round with her husband Chris and her cat Cheddar.
