Hey Camp George! I am so excited to share that I will be coming back home to be this year’s Rosh Arts! This will be my 12th summer at camp and I can’t imagine any place I would rather be than Maple Lake!

When I first came to CG as a Lehavot camper, I knew absolutely no-one, which made me very nervous walking onto the camp bus for the first time. By the time that bus arrived to camp, I already had made friends and was ready to conquer the summer. Each year I return to camp, I meet new friends, continue to develop old relationships, and learn different life skills.

Being a staff member at Camp George, I had the extraordinary experience of being pottery staff for many years and a counselor. My favorite part about being staff at CG is getting to lead and participate in special moments that would only happen in the camp environment. During the year, I still think back to how it feels to lead an Israeli dance session, teach a camper how to use the pottery wheel, and make a homesick camper smile. Getting to create the same life-changing camp experiences that was given to me as a camper is so rewarding.

Outside of camp, I am going into my 4th year of nursing at Trent University and I am completing my 4th year consolidation placement at a hospital in Toronto. This year I got the opportunity to apply my love of camp to my future profession by creating a research reading course for myself on the uniqueness of practicing nursing in the camp environment. The nurses at camp inspired me to enter this special profession and I am hoping to use this knowledge to be a camp nurse in the future.

For Arts this summer, we will be stepping it up even more this year! With bigger, messier, and thrilling programming, we are already starting to plan for summer 2019! I am so excited to help make camp even more beautiful this summer with my incredible Arts team!
