Hi Camp George!

Thank you for participating in our weekly take home activities. We hope they have been keeping you entertained during this time at home. It can be hard to be away from our school, friends, and family. This week’s activities will help us reflect on this challenging time and focus on our own self-care.

And, don’t forget to check out what’s happening around our community and join in on our congregations virtual programs!

Activity 1: Fortune Teller Craft

Create your very own fortune teller as a fun game to take care of yourself and help brighten your day.

Directions:

-Make a fortune teller using blank paper. If you have never made one before, follow the directions here.

-Write in the names of different colours on the four of the outside folds i.e purple, green, blue, yellow. You can even colour in these sections those colours too.

-Write in numbers 1-8 on the inner folds.

-Under the inner folds, write in different actions that would help make you feel better. This could include the following (or create your own!):

  • Listen to your favourite song
  • Take 5 deep breaths
  • Give yourself a hug
  • Smile
  • Say 1 thing that you love about yourself
  • Do 5 jumping jacks
  • Tell yourself everything is going to be okay
  • Dance

Materials:

  • -Piece of blank paper
  • -Markers or pencil crayons

Activity 2: Covid-19 Time Capsule

Source: Long Creations

We are all living through a historic time in the world. Create a keepsake of this moment for us to look back on in the future when this is all over.

Click on this link to access the book you can use. Print the book and begin to fill in the pages. This book includes the following sections:

-Page to draw family

-All about me

-How I am feeling

-My community

-What I am doing at home

-Handprint page

-Special occasion page

-Letter to myself sheet

-Interview for the parents

-Letter from the parent

Once you are finished your time capsule – fold the capsule and seal it in an envelope. Label the envelope and set a time limit for when it can be opened i.e. 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years. Store your time capsule someplace safe where it will not get lost!

Activity 3: Neighbourhood Bingo

Source: Solis Animations Inc.

Going for a walk outside (while following physical distancing laws) is a great way to care for yourself and connect with your surroundings. Bring this neighbourhood bingo card with you on your walk and cross off as many items as you can find. Can you fill out the entire sheet?

Thank you for participating in the take home activities! We hope you enjoyed them and have spent time having fun and caring for yourself. Remember this is a challenging time for all of us, but it will eventually end. We are in this together.
