Hey Camp George! We will be providing you with weekly indoor and outdoor activities that you can do to stay active, have fun, and give back to your community.

Are you doing any amazing activities while you’ve been home? We want to hear about them! Let us know if you have any suggestions, and we might feature your activity in our weekly post to our community.

The world needs our help now more than ever. There are ways that YOU can help to better your local community and the environment. We all have the responsibility to play a role in tikkun olam (repairing the world). Here are ways to help:

Make A Poster For Your Neighbours (Indoor)

Think about positive messages you would want your neightbours to hear right now. People are not seeing their family, friends, classmates as much anymore and spending their time in their own neighbourhoods. You can help to boost their spirit and improve their day. For example, “we’re in this together”, “stay safe” or “call me if you need groceries”. Write your message(s) on a piece of paper or board and make it colourful to catch their eye!

You can also create a rainbow to put in your window. Many families around the world are doing this to spread positivity and brighten people’s day. Use the hashtag #everythingwillbealright

Supplies:

-Paper, Bristol board or cardboard

-Tape (to secure poster to window)

-Markers or other decorations

Sowing and Growing Beans (Indoor/Outdoor)

You can watch your own bean plant grow from seedling to a delicious food and create a beautiful garden for your neighbourhood as well. Here’s how:

  1. Take any raw bean that you have in your house. Place 3 beans, wrapped in paper towel, inside a glass cup.
  2. Put the glass on the window sill with direct access to sun.
  3. Put a little water every three days in the glass until the paper towel is moist (not submerged). You will see the bean sprout into a little plant!
  4. In three weeks, you can either plant the bean plant outside into the ground or into a pot with soil. It’s important to have some kind of stick or structure that the plant can wrap around as it grows.

Supplies:

-3 beans

-Paper Towel

-Glass cup or mason jar

-Water

Thank you for doing your part to help our community during this time of need. Stay tuned next week for more indoor/outdoor activities that you can do while you’re home.
