We are the Hecht-Kugelmass family. We became aware of Camp George shortly after it’s inception in 1999. We are grateful to live in a community which supports several Jewish day and overnight camps. Camp George fills a need within Toronto’s Reform Jewish community and provides an overnight camping experience to over 350 children each summer.

As parents of a child with special needs, we were thrilled to discover Camp George’s commitment to provide services not only to campers requiring accommodation but also to staff. Our daughter attended Camp George, first, as a camper and then went on to become a staff member as well. It was important to us that the staff at Camp George worked with us to ensure that each of our daughters’s thirteen summers spent at camp would be successful. Camp George does not just talk about inclusion…. they walk the walk!

As our daughter blossomed through her camping experiences, our own experiences with Camp George grew as well. We may have begun as parents but quickly became friends, board members and donors as well.

Like so many of you who are parents or grandparents looking for the best summer experience for your children, we know how good it feels to “do good”. It has been empowering to know that we have been able to improve the lives of so many children through our donations to Camp George. We even decided to set up a family fund so that the legacy will continue. There are so many ways to give at Camp George. They have made it easy for all of us to do good.
