My Camp George connection – FAMILY

I have always been a camp gal! From the time I was 8 until into my late 20’s I attended overnight camp. Camp life has shaped who I am today and it was something that I wanted to share with my children. When asked to write my thoughts about my connection to Camp George many things ran through my head (Judaism, independence, self-expression just to name a few). All those connections are important but not specific enough to Camp George. Then it hit me – FAMILY!

So what is the definition of family? There have been many definitions over the years. I recently found this one:

Family is not solely blood relation. Family consists of the people who support and love you, and the people you can confide in and trust.

This is camp. Our children make long lasting friendships. Parents put trust into people to take care of our children just like we do over the rest of the year. Parents see the smiles on our childrens’ faces, listen to the endless stories of fun, love and compassion. I could not ask for a better extended family for my daughter, one that she will cherish forever.

Thank you Camp George for being my family’s family!
