We’re back with another blog for our “20 questions” series. Read on below for our interview with our Rosh Sports, Alex Krieger.
Question #1: What are your goals for summer 2018?
Alex: “To teach skills, build relationships and make camp a better and safer place.”
Question #2: What are you most excited about for your role at camp?
Alex: “To lead a team of great people to the best of their abilities and create an inclusive environment where everyone can improve.”
Question #3: What’s your life motto, or philosophy you live by?
Alex: “If you always do the right thing, good things will come.”
Question #4: What’s your biggest dream?
Alex: “To be the prime minister of the country.”
Question #5: Favourite part of Maccabiah/color war?
Alex: “The ending, where the teams that are not victorious are eliminated from the game.”
Question #6: Greatest skill building moment you facilitated as a camp staff?
Alex: “When I taught a camper in my cabin how to bike during free time. The camper worked hard and persevered to overcome this challenge and I was very happy to see the results of his hard work.”
Question #7: What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Alex: “I always wanted to help people or things, whether that was in politics, medicine or as a veterinarian, but ultimately, I decided to work with youth as a teacher.”
Question #8: What was/is your biggest accomplishment?
Alex: “Graduating from University was one of my greatest accomplishments and something I am very proud of.”
Question #9: What are your favorite hobbies?
Alex: “Looking into news and current events, keeping up with all the major sports, and I sure love my Toronto Maple Leafs.”
Question #10: What animal best represents you and why?
Alex: “A monkey.”
Question #11: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Alex: “Israel. I haven’t been and heard so many great things. I can’t wait to go soon!”
Question #12: What camp staff inspired you the most? How did they inspire you?
Alex: “Leor Mann and Seth Freedland really inspired me to become a better person. They taught me to go for my goals and to give back to my community. The impact they had towards me I hope to give to others. As leaders they always were positive and encouraged me and I will do the same my staff.”
Question #13:What’s your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
Alex: “Chanukah of Course! Singing, presents and latkas! Whats not to love!”
Question #14: What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play?
Alex: “Hockey! Love the Toronto Maple Leafs and Canada hockey. Just grew up playing a lot, it’s always part of my families life.”
Question #15: Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Alex: “Most people at camp call me Krieger.”
Question #16: Do you have a pet? If not, what sort of pet would you like?
Alex: “I have three cats at my house, they are great! So much personality.”
Question #17: Where did you go to University?
Alex: “I graduated from Guelph University with an honors degree in Human Kinetics! I am now at Brock University in St. Catherine’s.”
Question #18: What are you studying now?
Alex: “I am now finishing my first year of two, become a primary teacher.”
Question #19: What was the most interesting thing you learned in university?
Alex: “I spent a year dissecting a human body cadaver, learning every detail of the human!”
Question #20: What’s a random, interesting fact you can share with us?
Alex: “I live about 20 min away from the 8th wonder of the world Niagara falls.”
