Today we’re kick starting our ongoing blog series with our summer 2018 leadership staff, or as we call them Hanhallah. Each blog will feature 20 questions in honour of our upcoming 20th summer. Read on below for our Q+A with Lehavot Unit Head Daniel Borins.

Question #1: Favourite part of Maccabiah/colour war?

Daniel: “The opening skits- super hype!”

Question #2: What are your favourite hobbies?

Daniel: “Playing guitar, watching movies, hanging out with friends.”

Question #3: If you could live in a book, TV Show or movie, what would it be?

Daniel: “I would want to live in the world of Harry Potter cause then I could do spells and fly on brooms.”

Question #4: What camp staff inspired you the most? How did they inspire you?

Daniel: “Eric Rudel inspired me, he was my Barak counselor- was always engaging and great to talk to, developed great bonds with his campers.” 

Question #5: What’s your favorite Jewish holiday and why?

Daniel: “Passover because you get to eat so much good food, like charoset.”

Question #6: Do you collect anything?

Daniel: “Not really a collection, but I love listening to albums and document which ones I have listened to. So far I have listened to over 350 music albums!”

Question # 7: If you could invite four famous people to dinner, who would you choose and why?

Daniel: “I would invite John, Paul, George and Ringo- have a Beatles reunion.”

Question #8: What outdoor activities do you like to do?

Daniel: “Playing tennis, going on nature hikes with my dog.”

Question #9: What makes a good camp friend?

Daniel: “Someone who has your back through thick and thin.”

Question #10: What is your favourite camp tradition?

Daniel: “Muffins on Friday morning.”

Question #11: What is your proudest camp moment?

Daniel: : “Organizing and running the 2015 Alice in Wonderland Maccabiah.”

Question #12: What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

Daniel: “Just doing escape rooms literally all the time.”

Question #13: What’s on your bucket list this year?

Daniel: “Complete my one second everyday video for 2018.”

Question #14: What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Daniel: “A zookeeper, I loved animals.”

Question #15: What was/is your biggest accomplishment?

Daniel: “Becoming an intro psych T.A. (teaching assistant) at McMaster.”

Question #16: Do you have a pet? If not, what sort of pet would you like?

Daniel: “I have a pet poodle named Slash and he is the fluffiest puppy in the world.”

Question #17: Do you have any siblings? What are they like?

Daniel: “I have three siblings, Max, Jack, and Isabelle, and they’re all really cool.”

Question #18:What’s your life motto, or philosophy you live by?

Daniel: “Don’t worry about it!”

Question #19: What is something you love doing? Why?

Daniel: “I love going to see rock concerts because they are super fun; my favourite shows have been Metallica, Rage against the Machine, and Green Day.”

Question #20: If you could eat your favorite food now, what would it be?

Daniel: “It would be sushi- my favourite.”
