Jeff Rose, Director
Jeff Rose joined the Camp George family in the fall of 2007. Jeff came to us from Camp Sabra in St. Louis, MO. Before that Jeff spent many years in Montreal, Quebec, where he was the full time Associate Director of the Harry Bronfman Y Country Camp. He has an education degree from the University of Toronto where he taught grade two prior to moving into camping full time. Jeff’s passion for camp shines through and he promises to make Camp George a safe and fun environment where campers and staff will laugh, learn and grow together and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Karen Kollins, Associate Director
Karen is a veteran of Ontario camping and URJ camping. She has been with Camp George since its inaugural season in 1999 and has helped to develop the Camp George program. A former teacher, Karen brings to camp a love for children and an understanding of children’s emotional and development needs. Karen believes that camp is the ultimate environment for learning and a place where children gain independence through risk taking and relationship building. Karen has a Masters’ of Education and a teaching degree. Her Masters’ research focused on creating an anti-bullying program for the camp environment. Karen met her husband, Daniel Abramson at Camp George and together with their children Ruby and Lev they spend their summers loving life in the Camp George great outdoors.
Tal Rozenfeld, Accountant/Bookkeeper
Tal Rozenfeld, our Accountant and Bookkeeper is responsible for our camp accounts and financial administration. She is a former Business Administrator at UJA Federation of Toronto. Tal moved to Toronto from Tel Aviv many years ago along with her family – her husband Andrei and sons Eli, Michael, and Sacha. When she is not busy crunching numbers, Tal loves to travel. Lucky for her (and for us) Muskoka is one of her favourite places.
Julia Guest, Assistant Director
Although not new to Camp George, Julia Guest joined the full time staff team in 2010 as our Conference Coordinator and now serves as our Assistant Director. Jules has been a part of our family since her camper days and ran our outdoor tripping program for six amazing summers. Originally from Hamilton, she is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Double Major in History and Sociology, and now lives in Toronto. Jules is thrilled to supervise our Specialty areas during the summer months and can’t wait to experience many more days on docks, campfires and amazing Camp George sunsets.
Steve Greenwood, Development Director
Steve brings a wealth of experience to Camp George. He has over 20 years of experience in the fundraising and development world including both the health care and youth markets. His roles have included marketing, development, strategic planning, and event fundraising of all kinds. Steve has a passion for working with youth, and is currently the Youth Advisor at Temple Har Zion synagogue. Growing up, Steve spent many summers at camp including eight years on staff at a private Ontario residential camp and a summer at our sister camp, OSRUI. Steve has always been an active community volunteer. A number of these volunteer roles have been with Camp including most recently as a member of the Camp Steering Committee. Steve also has the privilege of being at Camp during the summer as a member of the teaching Faculty. He loves to be involved with his kids’ activities, and coaches his sons’ hockey team. Steve is married with three children who all count down the days to being back at their annual summer ‘home-away-from-home.’ Camp George is most certainly a family affair for the Greenwood clan.
Bob Quinton, Maintenance Supervisor
No one knows Camp George like Bob knows Camp George. Bob Quinton has been taking care of the Camp George site for 20 years. With experience as a Contractor, Bob takes care of our plumbing, electrical and water systems. Bob ensures that the facility is well maintained throughout the year. When he is not at work, Bob and his dogs like to spend time in the great outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Gail Jacklin, Housekeeper
Gail has lived in the Parry Sound area her entire life and has been our housekeeper for over 15 years. She single-handedly ensures the camp is clean and operational all summer. She works throughout the year as well keeping our facilities clean in between conference groups. In her spare time Gail loves to work in her garden, planting flowers and vegetables.
