This summer, we introduced a new cooking program to camp with much success. Campers had a great time making pastries, pasta, pies and Israeli food with our cooking specialist Aviv and learning the history and stories behind of some of the recipes. It was awesome to see so many campers learn some valuable kitchen skills that can be put to good use at home. Here’s a favourite recipe you can try at home. Enjoy!

Apple Pie

2 cups of flour

10 tbs of water

250g of butter (soft)

1kg of sliced green apples

1/2 cup of brown sugar

3 tbs of cinnamon

3 tbs flour

Mix all the dough ingredients together. Cut the dough in half and roll it thin. Place half of the dough in the bottom of your pie tin followed by all the apple slices. Sprinkle the brown sugar mix and then top it off with the other half of the dough.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes and then let cool. Add icing sugar to the top for a sweet finish. Yum!
