Today we’re back with our ongoing blog series with our summer 2017 leadership staff, or as we call them Hanhallah. Each blog will feature 19 questions in honour of our 19th summer. Today’s blog features Kochavim Unit Head Sam Shindler-Glass.

Question #1: Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

Sam: “My first cabin of campers call me Zebra because of the way I say it.”

Question #2: Do you collect anything?

Sam: “I have a collection of model turtles.”

Question #3: If you could eat your favorite food now, what would it be?

Sam: “My favourite food is pizza.”

Question #4: What was a hobby you had this year?

Sam: “I’ve been closely involved with Hillel Ottawa in my year here (I am from London UK.)”

Question #5: What is your favourite camp tradition?

Sam: “My favourite camp tradition is Havdalah at the point.”

Question #6: What is your proudest camp moment?

Sam: “My proudest camp moment comes every CG Games, because the effort we put into it is always made worth it by the smiles on the campers’ faces.”

Question #7: How many summers have you been at Camp George?

Sam: “This will by my fourth summer at Camp George. I first came over on a program with RSY-Netzer, NFTY’s British cousin.”

Question #8: Do you have any sibilings?

Sam: “I have a younger sister and a younger brother. My sister Jess is going to be at camp for her second summer this year.”

Question #9: What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?

Sam: “My favourite sports to watch are rugby in the winter and baseball in the summer.”

Question #10: Do you have a pet?

Sam: “I have a black dog called Doodles, who is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle cross.”

Question #11: Where will you be after camp this summer?

Sam: “I’m going to be living in Venice next semester.”

Question #12: What was your favorite book growing up?

Sam: “My favourite book is Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo, which is a great story and definitely worth a read!”

Question #13: All time best camp memory?

Sam: “My all time best camp memory was when a camper told me that I was one of his biggest inspirations.”

Question #14: What’s Your Favorite Holiday And Why?

Sam: “My favourite holiday is Pesach because I love having Seders with my extended family who I don’t see that often.”

Question #15: Do you have a favourite colour?

Sam: “My favourite colour is yellow.”

Question #16: What is your favourite camp program?

Sam: “I love camp overnights at both the Island and Gan Matan because cooking on the camp fire and sharing stories with campers and staff is always great fun.” 

Question #17: What’s one really cool experience you’ve had?

Sam: “I have been scuba diving in Mexico with bull sharks.”

Question #18: What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Sam: “When I was young, I wanted to be a fireman because there was a book character called Fireman Sam, and I envisioned myself as the next Fireman Sam!”

Question #19: If You Could Travel Anywhere In The World, Where Would It Be

Sam: “If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d go to the Masai Mara during the great migrations. I’ve been on safari once before, but seeing that many animals all running together would be amazing.”
