We’re so excited to tell you about the development of our partnership with the PJ Library program. PJ Library, is a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation which is a non-profit charitable organization with the goal of enhancing Jewish and community life in Western Massachusetts, North America, Israel, and beyond. PJ Library is an award-winning Jewish family engagement program, mailing free, high-quality Jewish children’s books and music each month. Who can join the PJ Library program?
Currently the program is available across North America, but is not yet in every city. To see if your community is a part of the program you click here. (insert link to PJ library page with the locations map)Families with children between the ages of six months and through 5,6,7 and 8 (depending on the community) years old can enroll for the program..
What does the PJ Library program aim to do?
• Engage both children and parents
• Encourage participation by both children and parents
• Instill cooperation & respect for others
• Focus on Jewish themes like: Tzedakah (charity), Tikun Olam (repairing the world), Jewish family traditions (Shabbat), and Jewish holiday traditions with a goal of encouraging families to integrate Jewish practice in everyday life.
What is the “PJ Goes to Camp” Program?
The Ontario Council for Jewish Camps (which Camp George is a member of) are working in partnership to host a “PJ Goes to Camp” program on family day weekend in February. The event will include fun activities and games run by the camps, a story telling “campfire” complete with storytelling and songs, “camp” style snacks and informal camp presentations, etc. Stay tuned for the complete details on this fun filled family event!
How is Camp George getting involved with PJ Library?
We are currently working on partnering on our own with PJ to run a spring program (around May). You’ll have to wait to find out the details, but we promise it’s going to be a blast!
