Hey Camp George!
On the third to last night of camp, a group of C.I.T.’s sat down to write about their reflections on this summer, that share an inside look on the overall experience of the C.I.T. summer.
-With gratitude to our C.I.T.’s
In Sydney’s words:
Dear Mark and Chelsea,
It’s scary to think that this summer is finally coming to an end. It’s hard to say what kind of expectations I had coming into the summer because at the time I was unsure about whether I was excited to come back to camp and have the summer of my life, or terrified to no longer be a camper. Although I’m excited to become staff, it’s so hard for me to think that this is it for me as a camper. That being said, I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing summer to end my 7 years as a camper.
I feel like I have accomplished so much and made the most amazing memories. I was lucky to have an amazing cabin that I bonded with and became closer to throughout the summer. I was also so happy to get every placement that I wanted! I had so much fun in all of my placements and I definitely learned new things from all of them. Also, being a Maccabiah captain and winning, was a moment I am going to remember forever. I’d wanted to be a captain since my first year at camp, and it was so great to finally have that opportunity.
Although I have so much to look forward to when I get home, I know I’m nowhere near ready to leave this place for another year. I don’t want to think about leaving just yet, but I’m going to miss it here so much and I’ll be counting the days until I can get back here as soon as I get home.
Anyways, I just want to finish off my reflection by saying thank you for being such amazing staff and for helping me have the summer of a lifetime. I know that without you guys, my summer could not have been this amazing. I understand now why they say that C.I.T. summer is the best summer.
In Ben’s words:
Camp has gone by so quickly this year. It seems like I just got here. However, when I think of all the experiences I had this summer, I am overwhelmed with memories. I loved my 2 placements on Bikes, and therefore, hope to become a Bikes specialist next year.
This year was my best summer ever at Camp George, because I was here for both sessions and I was less shy this year, and everyone greeted me in a great way. It is really sad that camp is over in 3 days, but at the same time, I am looking forward to going back home. I hope to see my camp friends again this year, Ryan and Justin are going on EIE so I’ll be able to meet them somewhere (as I live in Germany), which I am really excited about as I usually have to wait a year before I can see them.
Thank you for being such awesome unit heads. I found that we had the perfect balance between freedom and responsibilities, which makes this summer so memorable.
