Check out our interview with Dean of Jewish Life Rabbi Ilyse Glickman in the blow below! Welcome back!

Tell us about your background at camp?

“I started working at Camp George in its very first year (1999!) as Barak Unit Head and then worked as the Director of Education for the next few years. Once I became a rabbi I returned a few times over the years as a faculty member which I loved. I am so excited to be returning to Camp George this summer as the Dean of Jewish Life.”

What are you looking forward to this summer?

“First and foremost, I am most excited about getting back to George! This summer I am looking forward to seeing and experiencing how camp has grown over the past 2 decades as well as connecting deeply with our campers, staff, and faculty. Finally, I am excited to watch my child, Joel, experience camp for the first time as a Nitzotzot camper.”

What do you do outside of camp?

“I am currently the Director of Congregational Learning at Scarsdale Synagogue in Scarsdale, NY. This summer my family will be moving back to Toronto where my spouse David Rosen will be starting as the Senior Cantor of Holy Blossom Temple.”

You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?

“Anything from Broadway!”

If you had to eat one camp meal everyday for the rest of your life what would it be?

“Definitely the salad bar. You can switch it up every day and enjoy a different experience. Enjoy a good salad? Let’s discuss our favourites this summer.”

What is one thing people might not know about you?

“A few years ago I started taking piano lessons. Definitely not the easiest thing to pick up as an adult. I am committed to my weekly piano lessons and I love the feeling of stretching to grow. Note: I am NOT very good!”
